Laurence “Larry” A Meyer of Ellicott City passed away at his home on December 14, 2018 at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Lucinda “Cindi” Meyer, daughter Marian Meyer, grandson Dylan, stepson Seth Rhoades, his wife Michele, grandchildren Logan, Tristen, Mady and Lucian, stepson Colin Rhoades and his wife Tisa.
Larry was born October 13, 1946 in Ashland, Pennsylvania to Albert and Marian whom proceeded him in death, along with his brother Eric. He grew up hunting and fishing, where he developed a love for the outdoors. After graduating from Ashland High School in 1964 Larry joined the United States Navy in 1965. He was a radarman until he was honorably discharged in August 1969. After the Navy he went to Ryder Technical Institute until 1972. His skills from the U.S. Navy and Ryder Technical Institute helped him land a job at the Applied Physics Lab of Johns Hopkins, where he was employed for 34 years.
As an avid outdoorsman Larry spent his time with various clubs including Patapsco River Power Squadron, South Carroll Aeromodelers and Free State Fly Fishers. Larry taught fishing and fly tying for Park and Recs, was a leader for B.O.W. (Becoming an Outdoors-Woman), as well as many other clubs and groups. Larry could hold an audience with his stories and became know as a storyteller.
