Lauren Aliza Devine, 23, of Galesburg died at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010, at home. Lauren was born on November 24, 1986, in Bangor, Maine the daughter of Timothy P. and Teresa Casselberry Devine.

Lauren never walked or spoke a word or had a job. Yet, she saw much of the country. She lived in Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, California, and finally Illinois. She visited Florida, Montana, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Even though a word was never spoken, she expressed volumes with her eyes. She deeply understood and communicated compassion, acceptance, patience, and love beyond measure. She never had a job, yet no one ever worked harder. She certainly worked hard to deal with her physical challenges. Her life work, however, was her greatest endeavor.  She was an excellent teacher, for those willing to listen with their hearts. The depth, strength, and gentleness of her spirit were undeniable, humbling, and inspiring.  She loved and is loved completely.

Lauren is survived by her mother, Teresa (and Tom Doty) Devine of Galesburg; her father, Timothy (and David Anderson) Devine of Seattle, WA; her paternal grandparents, Pat (and Katy) Devine of Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by 2 uncles, Michael Devine of LaCrosse, WI, and Jerry (and Patti) Casselberry of Monroe, WI; and 4 cousins.

Lauren was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Donald and Dorothy Casselberry.
