Laurel Ann Trenouth, died at age 76, in Flagstaff. The daughter of Louis B. Hine and Anna (Eichorn) Hine, Laurel Ann (Hine) Trenouth was born in 1929 in Bay City Michigan. She was a graduate of Central High School, Bay City Junior College, and the University of Michigan.
She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Wayne State University, and did her doctoral work at the University of Michigan. A twenty-five year participant in the Harvard Medical School Nurse’s Health Study, she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and in 1949 she was made a member of the Beta Gamma Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity.
Mrs. Trenouth had been a Nursing Consultant to the Veteran’s Administration, an instructor in Surgical Nursing at Emerson Hospital in Massachusetts and Senior Occupational Health Nurse at Digital Equipment Corporation, as well as an instructor and program coordinator for the Joslin Diabetes Center.
After moving to Arizona in 1995, she became a certified infant massage therapist and trainer, as well as a CASA volunteer, acting as an advocate for the interests of children in the Arizona court system. She took courses at NAU in Navaho to English medical translation, to enable her to act as a health care volunteer on the reservations. She leaves behind her loving daughter Laurel, of Massachusetts, and her beloved Welsh Corgi, Arthur. She will be remembered with love.
