Laura M. Stark, 96, of 122 Lakeview Dr., East Galesburg, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Laura was born on February 13, 1912, in Alexandria, LA the daughter of Jonathan and Hattie Belle Hatfield Berlin.
She married David Stark on July 3, 1938, in New Orleans, LA. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1981.
Surviving Laura are, her daughter, Dandy (Bill) Spence of East Galesburg; 2 grandsons, David Spence of Galesburg and Robert Spence of Joliet; a granddaughter, Melissa Spence of East Galesburg, who had been Laura’s caregiver; 4 great-grandchildren, Madison, William, Morgan, and Isabella. Laura was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the catholic woman’s association, the Democratic woman’s society, and the royal neighbors for many years, all in New Smyrna Beach.
