Laura Jean Lang was born in Hartford, CT on September 12, 1950 to Lillian (Yurco) and E Russell Lang. Raised in Poughkeepsie, NY, even at a young age, it was apparent that Laura would take life by the reigns and live it to the fullest and that she did.
marriage. Perhaps dearest of all she leaves her beloved dog, Benji. Laura is predeceased by her mother, who passed in 2012.
Laura attended Roy C. Ketcham high school in Poughkeepsie, NY no doubt leaving a trail of broken young men’s hearts. She graduated in 1968, then moved to Worcester, MA where she made several life-long friends at Becker Junior College. Afterwards, she worked in Boston and Poughkeepsie before making, what seemed at the time, the huge exciting leap to Los Angeles, CA to live with her first husband, Dominic Edwards. She was employed by the Los Angeles Fireman’s Credit Union.
In 1980, Laura invited her sister Cindy to come live with her in Huntington Beach, CA.
after, her brother Russ came to stay with the couple while attending college in nearby Pomona. What great times they all had!
While on vacation with Cindy to Mazatlán in 1991, Laura met Harry Barker. It was love at first sight. They were soon married and resided first in Scotts Valley, CA and later Scottsdale, AZ. Harry has been a wonderful husband and will surely miss his beloved soul mate.
Beautiful, smart, sharp, with an unfaltering memory, Laura was both a big sister who blazed the way for, and at times a second mother to, her siblings. She was fun to be around and her energetic personality attracted many friends. The world has lost a precious soul and heaven has gained an exquisite angel. We can all take comfort knowing she watches over us.
Laura loved all animals, especially dogs.
