Laura Crostic Pleasants, a beloved former resident of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the age of 98. Born on January 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Emily Crostic, and was also preceded in death by three husbands, Charles Prosser Irving, Jefferson M. “Mac” Poe, Henry Elbert Pleasants; granddaughters, Jennifer and Heather Gindhart; sisters, Emily Crostic, Catherine Lucie, Nell Farris; and brothers, Scott and William Crostic.

Laura was a former member of Highland United Methodist Church and a current member of Colonial Heights Christian Church, where she found comfort and solace in her faith.

In her professional life, Laura was the proud owner of Poe’s Cleaner in Colonial Heights, where she provided excellent service and built lasting relationships with her clients. Upon retiring after a number of years, she sold the business, which still operates today.

Above all, Laura was a dedicated homemaker and a loving mother to her children. Her home was a place of warmth and love, and she took great pride in raising her children with care and devotion. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy I. Gindhart; son, James H. Irving and wife, Mary; grandchildren, James “Jim” Irving and wife, Cathleen, David “Dave” Irving and wife, Kara; five great-grandchildren, Finn, Jack, Eli, Estee, and Elisabeth Irving; and other extended family members. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff members of the Seaton Chesterfield and Hospice of Virginia for their extraordinary care of Laura in her time of need.
