Larry Wilkinson
On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, Larry Wilkinson, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 85. Larry was born on February 11, 1937 in Mebane, NC to Ellis Swain and Christine Wilkinson.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Swain, his mother Christine, his first wife Janet Wilkinson and the 2nd love of his life Marilyn Gardiner Wilkinson. He is survived by two sons Steven and Chris, two daughters Naomi and Tisha, several grandchildren and a very close acquaintance, Laura Harris.
He attended Burlington Business College, transferred to Elon where he met and married Janet Bussinger on Feb 10, 1961. He joined the Air Force in April 1961 and raised one son, Steven. In March of 84, Larry and Marilyn tied the knot and enjoyed 25 years of a happy, joyful and amazing married life. After retiring from the Air Force and IRS, Larry enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and learning how to square dance. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, having a Dad joke at a moment’s notice, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
