Larry Turf, 86, a longtime resident of Long Island, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at The Jefferson House in CT. Born on July 12, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, Larry was the son of the late Isidore and Anna (Feldman) Turf and the husband of the late Linda (McDougall) Turf who predeceased him in June of 2015. Larry attended and graduated from New York Public Schools and went on to attend the University of Virginia, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He later went on to earn his Master’s Degree at Long Island University-CW Post. Larry proudly served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War and prior to his retirement, he was employed as an Engineer for the Brookhaven National Laboratories in NY for many years. Larry was actively involved in the Hauppauge Soccer Club and enjoyed supporting his beloved New York Yankees. A beloved father and grandfather, he is survived by his sons, Douglas Turf and his wife Michele of Newington and Glen Turf of FL as well as his grandchildren, Ryan and Kailey Turf also of Newington.
