Larry “Steve” Bright of Richmond, TX, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 3:08 pm.  Steve passed peacefully at the age of 75 with loving family by his side.

Steve was born on August 19, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, William “Pap” and Mary “Nan” Bright, as well as his brother William “Bill” Bright II.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Sheree Westra Bright; daughter Laura LeBeau and son-in-law Gerald LeBeau; son Jon Bright and daughter-in-law Christina Bright; four stepchildren, Bryan Craven, Bradley Craven, Melissa Craven, and Brittney Vaughn; grandchildren, Steven and husband Michael, Madison, Travis, Lillian, Tyler, Christian and wife Kate, Abby and husband Joe, and Dylan; great grandchildren, Lukas, Veronica, and John Henry; nephew William Bright III, and niece Stephanie Gregory.  Steve, or Papa as he was affectionately referred to, thought his grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was never at a loss of words to describe how loved they were and never too far from a photo showing them off.

There is a quote by Jamie Anderson that says “Grief is really just love you want to give but cannot.  All that unspent love gathers up in the corner of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest.  Grief is just love with no place to go.”

While that quote has a harsh truth to it, our beloved Papa would not want our grief to overtake us.  As someone who loved his family in a fierce and unconditional way, he would know that within our family, there is plenty of places for that love to go.

Steve, though would do anything for a laugh, or sharing a good joke, also always knew when to be thoughtful and attentive.  Raising daughters, stepdaughters, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters, he would never shy away from lending his warm and compassionate shoulder at any moment.  He set the bar for how those in his family should be treated, leading by proud example.

Those who knew Steve, know one of his many love languages was gift giving, frequenting the local Goodwill or consignments to find clothing or trinkets he thought would be perfect to brighten someone’s day.  And just as often as he would give these tokens of love, he would want to know where those items were placed in your home, or would request a fashion show to display his good taste.

While these are things most people know about Steve, some good memories we have are those told to us by others.  Stories of how neighborhood friends of Jon and Laura would come to the door, asking if Steve could play, all of them adoring his playful and fun-spirited nature.
