Larry Michael “Mike” Vickers, 65 entered Heaven on December 29, 2012. He was born in Maysville, Missouri.
He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 45 years, daughter Shelley Carner, son David, mother Maxine Vickers, sisters Joy McFee and Lynda Young and brothers David Cech and Loren Vickers. He was predeceased by his son Larry Jr. and father Fred Vickers.
Mike was a father of 3, grandfather of 9, great grandfather of 3 and a friend to all.
Mike graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1965. He worked for the City of Flagstaff Recreation Dept., Vickers & Sons Construction and Post Office before going to work at the Flagstaff Fire Department. He was a training Captain for the first Reserve Recruit Academy in the fall of 1986 and retired as a Captain in 1997.
A man of God, Mike was active in the Assemblies of God and did remodeling and repair work for churches on the Navajo and Hopi Reservations. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting in area 6B in Flagstaff, at the Strip and in Utah. His favorite fishing spot was Lake Powell but he also fished in many lakes and streams in his travels all over the US.
