Larry L. “Sug” Brennan, 69, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born June 11, 1943, in Jacksonville, the son of Terrance “Boots” and Gertrude Vieira Brennan. He married Rama F. Sadler on March 7, 1964, in Jacksonville, and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, T.J. Brennan (Anita Greer) of Manchester and Larry D. Brennan of Jacksonville; five granddaughters, Mary, Nicole, Cherie, Kerry and Ghordann; one brother, Terry Brennan of Decatur; and one sister, Sue (Joe) Tapscott of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Brennan was a 1961 graduate of Jacksonville High School, and enjoyed helping organize their 50th Class Reunion last year. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman at the New London (CT) Submarine Base during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Jacksonville as a heating and air conditioning technician, working at Dempsey’s, Sears, Walton’s and R&M.
Mr. Brennan was also an accomplished musician, having played with The Sound Organization and The Audio III. He was a hot rod enthusiast and a member of the Jacksonville Street Rodders and also a lifetime member of The Over the Hill Gang Car Club in San Diego, CA. Sug used all nine lives, and he enjoyed each one of them.
