Larry L. Grammer, 68, of Virginia, IL died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. He was born November 6, 1939, in Granite City; the son of Ernest and Esther Arnett Grammer. He married Dr. Graciela Quintero on June 23, 1972, in Springfield and she survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Celeste Grammer of Country Club Hills; a brother, Gary Grammer (wife, Susan) of Alton; and two nieces, Rebecca and Melissa Grammer, and a nephew, Geoffrey Grammer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Mr. Grammer was a disability adjudicator for the State of Illinois for 25 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church and a former member of the Illinois National Guard and the Virginia Lions and Kiwanis Clubs. He enjoyed playing chess and participated in area chess clubs. An avid reader, he enjoyed collecting books.
