Larry Kay Handwork, 83, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Larry was born on September 22, 1938, in Bluffton, IN, to the late Bertrand A. and Mabel E. (Fuller) Handwork. His marriage was to Margaret Scheiber in 1962.
Larry was a 1957 graduate of Huntington High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Huntington College in 1962 and earned a Master’s degree from Ball State University in 1965. He taught 3 years at Huntington Catholic School and was a teacher and guidance counselor for Huntington County Community Schools for 37 years.
He was an avid golfer and loved to play poker with the retired teacher group. He was an avid reader and had a book of quotes that he loved. This was one of his favorites:
“What will people remember us for? God’s definition of success is really one of significance– the significance our lives can make in the lives of others.”
Larry is survived by his wife Margaret of Huntington, IN, two daughters, Alane J. (Chris ) Eckert and Maria A. (Todd) Eckert both of Huntington, IN; one son J. Tyler Handwork of Huntington, IN. Six grandchildren, Ian, Alec, Anastascia, Emma, Auden and Luke Eckert and one brother, Ronald L. (Susan) Handwork, Sarasota, FL. Also surviving dear friends and neighbors, Scott and the Millers, who helped through the years. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Roger A. Handwork.
