Larry Elvin Milligan, 76, of Mingo died on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m.
Larry, the son of Lorren and Vera Iris (Kenyon) Milligan, was born on September 20, 1943 at home in rural Baxter. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1962 at Baxter High School. On July 10, 1964, Larry was united in marriage with Rita Maggard at Ashton Chapel. After high school he worked at Baxter Oil Co, until 1973 when he and Rita began the Milligan DX Garage in Baxter. In 1994, Larry went to work for Scott Anderson in McCallsburg and was there until October of 2019. Throughout the years, Larry also farmed.
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita Milligan of Mingo; children, John (Rhonda) Milligan of Mingo, Jill Milligan (Ryan Van Maaren) of Colfax, and Jeff (Melissa) Milligan of Southington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Haley Wickenkamp of Ames and Emma Wickenkamp of Colfax; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Arthur “Ike”, Bill, Max, and Marvin.
