On February 8, 1957, an amazing man entered this world. Born in Columbus, Ohio, LaMarr was a proud graduate of Linden Mckinley High School and Wilberforce University. He faithfully served in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as Sergeant First Class (E7). In addition, he managed multiple Giant Eagle grocery stores around the Greater Columbus area.

LaMarr loved life and never met a stranger. He became an instant friend and father figure to everyone he met. LaMarr was known for telling everyone that he’s been an Eagle all his life! He played for the Linden Eagles, his favorite football team was the Philadelphia Eagles, in the Army he was an Eagle and he worked for Giant Eagle.

He did those things which made his heart smile. LaMarr loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel to the beautiful country of Costa Rica before he passed away in Houston, Texas – a city that nurtured and healed his only daughter, Venice. In the words of Frank Sinatra “I did it my way”. We are honored to have shared space, time, victories, successes, trials, tribulations and most of all memories that are keeping us afloat. He never missed a beat and always showed up and showed out in every way. He was a great man and even greater father and will not soon be forgotten. Well done Daddy, Dad, PawPaw, E, G, Pops, BruhBruh, Uncle LaMarr, Sergeant Williams, Company Man, Marr, and Mr. Williams. We are all better to have known you. Your legacy of family, friendship and love will live forever.

LaMarr gained his wings and soared high on November 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Williams, Bessie Lyles and stepfather Thomas Lyles Sr. and his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Clementine Qualls.

Left to cherish his memory, the love of his life, the apple of his eye, his pumpkin in the sky, his best friend, his loving wife and forever dance partner of 43 years, Vanessa; daughter, Venice; sons, LaMarr II and LaVan; grandchildren, Carter and Drew (JaVonne) and Thanee (Lana); sisters, Tonette (Jim) Logwood, Denise (Warren) Love, Tonette (Callis) Kennedy, Tina (Jeff) McElroy, Tracey Lyles, Joyce (Rayvon) English, Devonna (David) Evans, Katrinnea (Dominic) Howard; brothers, Roger (Lisa) Williams, Thomas (Khalilah) Lyles, Allen (Essence) Marsh;  brother-in-laws Robert, Earl and Lorenzo Qualls, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
