Luella Marie Koon Carpenter, the daughter of Charlie and Luella Wright Koon was born August 28, 1926 in Newton, Iowa. She and her family lived in Marceline, MO and Elliott, IA, but most of her life was spent in Jasper County in or near Ira. Marie graduated from Mingo High School in 1943, went on to AIB, and worked as a secretary at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH during WWII. She worked in the Maytag Office 3 years and as a secretary at Winpower for 32 years.
