On May 3, 1957, two young girls in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Terri and Cheri, realized their dreams of getting a baby brother to pick on when their parents, Nathell Andrus Spracher and Glenn Lake Spracher, gifted them with one of their favorite people Ralph Kurt Spracher, aka Kurt. In the formative years of his journey through life, the young Kurt took nearly daily treks to attend schools in Idaho Falls, including Idaho Falls High School, with his best friend Fred Sargis by his side.

One side trek Kurt took along his voyage was his marriage to Roberta Howell, which produced his oldest son, Brandon, and gave him his only daughter, Angela, whom he legally adopted when he married Roberta.

His odyssey took another turn when he married Leann Owens at Chapel in the Valley in Swan Valley, Idaho. Kurt inherited a biking buddy when he taught stepson, Jeremy Yuill, to ride a bicycle, but being an outdoor enthusiast, Kurt needed additional company on his hiking, biking, and camping trips so he and Leann added to their family with three more sons, Jameson, J.C., and Jeff. Kurt learned his work ethic at a young age working beside his family when his dad opened Glenn’s Cold Storage. But with an ever-growing family, Kurt knew he was going to have to work hard before he could play hard, so throughout the rest of his life Kurt worked at Idaho Falls Foundry, American Fabrication, Bonneville County, and Idaho Steel, just to mention a few. His working career took an exciting excursion when he took steps to realize his lifelong dream of becoming a commercial diver when he attended Divers Institute of Technology in Seattle. Upon graduating, Kurt worked for Oceaneering International and Global Divers down in Louisiana. He continued his diving career for a time when he opened his own business, WetWork.

Even in his waning months, Kurt was a model of strong will and sheer determination right up to the end of his journey here on earth. While listening to “Let It Be” and surrounded by his wife and three youngest sons, Kurt’s generous heart gave out February 8, 2018, in room 204 at Intermountain Healthcare in Murray, Utah. His spirit was released from his worn out shell of a body and is now exploring the universe.

Loved ones who cleared Kurt’s new path were his parents, paternal grandparents, Glenn B. Spracher and Elsie Evelyn Lake Spracher, and maternal grandparents, Elva Severson Watts and Alfred Andrus.
