MSGT Clifford C. Kolb, USAF, Retired, 80, of Damiansville, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born February 19, 1931 in East Rodman, New York, son of William and Georgia (Lafferty) Kolb. He married Jane M. Howell on December 26, 1953 in Watertown, NY and she survives in Damiansville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lynnette (Terry) Fields of Collinsville, Marcus (Linda) Kolb of Mt. Vernon, Timothy (Elaine) Kolb of Woodbridge, West Virginia, Lee A. (Theresa) Kolb of Auburn, AL, Lisa A. (David) Roeber of Albuquerque, New Mexico, John P. (Debbie) Kolb of O’ Fallon, and Tina R. (Todd) Liberto of St. Louis, MO; 16 grandchildren, Scott, Christopher, Cassandra, Melissa, Tara, Norman, Tim, Lindsay, Emily, Joshua, Sean, Nathan, Dylan, Aubrey, Ashley, and Evan; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Armstrong of Syracuse, NY; and a brother, Ted Kolb of Watertown, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and three brothers. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict and retired from the service as a Master Sergeant. He then was a computer programmer/systems analyst at Scott Air Force Base for 28 years. He was a member of St. Damian Parish and Holy Name Society in Damiansville, former member of St. Damian District 62 School Board, past president and member of the Damiansville Chamber of Commerce, a former trustee of the Damiansville Village Board, a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, past commander and member of American Legion Post 1026, Catholic War Veterans Post 1780 in Carlyle, VFW Post 4183 at Scott Air Force Base, and member and former treasurer of the Albers/Damiansville Knights of Columbus Council 9768 and a member of Bishop Althoff 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Cliff enjoyed fishing, bowling and golf.
