Knapp R. Albinson passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Paramount Parks Assisted Living Center in Eagle, Idaho after battling Renal Cell cancer.

He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on July 9, 1937 to Harold Gibson and Carolyn Albinson and was named after his grandfather, Knapp Brown. He attended Shattuck Military school, Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and in 1960 he graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Spanish. He spent a semester at the University of Guadaljara, Mexico where he acquired a love for authentic Mexican food.

Knapp married Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Brownell and they eventually settled in Idaho Falls where they raised four children.  Knapp worked for Intermountain Gas Company and later Arnold Machinery Company selling heavy-duty construction equipment  to local contractors and loggers throughout Southeastern Idaho.  They were later divorced.  In 1979, Knapp completed training in Arizona and received his real estate license.  In the early 80’s Knapp moved to Boise to work as a warehouseman for the  Idaho Transportion Department .  He enjoyed his days working as a storekeeper in District 3 Supply and also supervised work release parolees.  Knapp retired in 1997 from the State and moved to Paramount Parks Assisted Living center in 2007. He enjoyed walking, reading history, solving Jumble word puzzles, and watching sports including BSU football and Gonzaga basketball .  

Knapp loved the outdoors and was an avid big game hunter, he also enjoyed duck hunting, fishing,  collecting old bottles, stamps and coins.  Knapp drew on 5 different mountain goat hunts and was successful on 3.

Knapp is survived by his children, daughters Andrea (Mark) Hoffman, of Idaho Falls, and Margaret (John) Ansted of Littleton, Colorado; sons, Tom (Raelene) of Spokane, Washington, and Peter Albinson of Star, Idaho;  grandchildren, Will, Victoria, Ron, Alec, Jasmine, Jessica, and Amy.  Knapp is survived by his brother, Bill Albinson of Sedona, Arizona and preceded in death by his parents.
