CAPE CANAVERAL

Kiyoshi Yamasaki, the first child of parents Hajime & Chiyeko Yamasaki, was born on March 26, 1933 in Guadalupe (San Luis Obispo), California. He passed away gracefully on February 7, 2013 with his family by his side. His gentle and peaceful soul is survived by his daughters Jasmine & Camilla, his sister Sally Kimura, and 2 brothers, George & Kikuo. He was also the beloved brother of the late Frank & Kaz Yamasaki.

In 1964 Key moved to Brevard County. He retired from the space industry in 1994 after wearing many different hats on a variety of space programs. One of his career highlights included pushing the ‘firing button’ that initiated launch of the Saturn 1B rocket which brought together the American & Soviet space Programs in the Apollo-Soyuz project.

He touched the lives of all those who he came across. He will be forever missed.
