Kenneth Wehrspan, age 84, of Algona, died on Tuesday November 18, 2014 at the Algona Manor Care Center. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona, with Rev. Dr. Steven Turner officiating.
Kenneth Paul Wehrspan, the son of Louis and Minnie (Vaudt) Wehrspan, was born on November 9, 1930 in Whittemore, Iowa. He graduated from Whittemore High School. On August 20, 1948 Ken was united in marriage with Marilyn Ruth Rusch. He owned and operated Ken’s Auto for 50 years selling his business in 2001. He was a stockholder and board member of Security State Bank. Ken was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed building and flying remote control planes, golfing, traveling, spending time in Arizona, reading, music and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish Ken’s memory are his daughters, Susan Henderson of Johnston, Karen (Al) Ulfers of Des Moines and Sharon Utterback of Algona; grandchildren, Ryan Henderson, Cody Henderson, Megan Henderson, Bryan Ulfers, Ben Ulfers, Erin Utterback Reding and Noah Utterback; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn in 1986; a son, Daniel; and brothers, Harold, Donald, Dennis, Dean and Willis.
