Kenneth “K. V.” Cox, 90, of Virginia, IL died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

He was born April 30, 1921 in Cass County, IL; the son of Thomas R. and Esther Williams Cox. He married Della Marie Schall on June 24, 1945 in Cass County, IL and she survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Kenneth Carl Cox (wife, Bonnie) of Sherman, Virgil Alan Cox (wife, Marcia) of Virginia, and William James Cox (wife, Sue) of Princeton; eight grandchildren, Curt Cox (wife, Rhamonda) of University City, MO, Brad Cox of Erie, Jenni Cox of Springfield, Josh Cox (wife, Beth) of Murphysboro, Justin Cox (wife, Sibyl) of Chatham, Nathan Cox (wife, Amy) of Anderson, SC, Ryan Cox of Elmhurst, and Evan Cox of Princeton; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Chilton and Hazel Hish, both of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

A retired second generation Cass County farmer, Mr. Cox enjoyed talking with people of all ages. He remembered much about his youth and growing up in Cass County as part of a large family, many of whom remained in the area to raise their families. He also served stateside in the US Army Air Corps during WW II and has a been a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 75 years.
