Kenneth Sheldon Sargent, Sr. of Halifax, passed away at home with his family by his side on April 24, 2021 at the age of seventy-eight. He was the devoted husband to Janice (Jones) Sargent for fifty-three years. He was the loving father of Kenneth Sargent, Jr. of Weymouth. He was the cherished brother of Joan Kapp or Carver, brother-in-law to Geraldine and Richard Ainslie of Cohasset, Marion Douglas of Cohasset, Judith O’Donovan of Carver, and Tom and Rita Jones of Cohasset. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, great niece and nephews, and three great, great nephews.Kenneth was born on October 17, 1942 in Cohasset to the late Edgar and Blanche (Beale) Sargent. He grew up in Cohasset and graduated from Cohasset High School. He honorably served our country in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967. He worked for many years in maintenance for the Town of Cohasset and the School Department. After retirement, Kenny needed something to keep him busy, so he delivered auto parts for South Shore Auto Parts in Scituate. He loved meeting new people on his delivery rounds.Kenny had many hobbies which included; furniture refinishing, seat caning, gardening, and he was a stained-glass artist. He loved the Red Sox and enjoyed playing baseball since his childhood with his best friend Dickie Ainslie. The best friends grew up and married the neighborhood twin girls and built homes next door to each other. They were chosen brothers. The two families enjoyed going to the Fryeburg Fair together many times. With a gift of gab, he would strike up a conversation with anyone and enjoyed talking and getting to know people. Kenny will always be remembered for his loving, happy, sunny disposition. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
