Mr. Kenneth Richard Skidmore, Age 75, of Garrison, Kentucky passed away Monday August 13th, 2018 with his family by his side at the Harbor Health Care of Ironton in Ironton, Ohio. Kenneth was born in Garrison, Kentucky November 13, 1942 to the late Buster Kenneth and June Richardson Skidmore.
Kenneth was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union of Portsmouth Local 437, a veteran of the United States Navy in which he served on the USS Little Rock as a Seaman from 1961 to 1967. Kenneth was a member and Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm Vanceburg, Ky. Also a member of the American Legion Post 0077.
He was a member of the US Navy Carrier Sailors Association and the USS Little Rock Association. He was a Kentucky Colonel. Kenneth was an avid UK Basketball fan and love to play golf with his buddies. He was also a member of the DAV Chapter 120 Vanceburg.
Surviving Kenneth are four daughters- Roxane (Larry) Robinson of South Shore, Ky., Belinda Kegley- Ashland, Ky., Rachel Skidmore (Tom) Rudd, Lexington, Ky., and Kendra Skidmore of Cynthiana, Ky.
Brothers- Nelson (Martha) Skidmore of Garrison, Ky; Larry (Margaret) Skidmore of Powhatan Point, Ohio.
Sisters- Wilma (Delbert) Collier, Betty (J.R.) Bloomfield, and Cora (Ray) May all of Garrison, Ky.
Grandchildren- Jacob Kegley, Kent Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Zack McKee, Breanna Skidmore, and Katie McKee. Great-grandchildren- Kyler Robinson, Khloe McKee, and Benjamin Kegley who also will mourn his passing.
Preceded in death beside his parents was a daughter- Kimberly Skidmore in infancy. One sister- Freda Hauck. Brothers- Buster (Bud), Don, David, Homer, Mike, and Tommy Skidmore.
