Kenneth R. Myers, 81, of 230 N. Michigan St., where he had lived since 1950, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday (May 8, 2007) in Riverside Village.
He was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Elkhart to Elmer R. and Irene (Walter) Myers. On Nov. 12, 1947, in Goshen, he married Sherry D. Michael.
She survives, along with three daughters, Sandy L. (Craig) Badman and Wendy K. (Jeff) Stevens, both of Elkhart, and Sally A. (Michael) Halker of Dalton, Ga.; two grandsons; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Myers.
Mr. Myers had been a general contractor in the Elkhart area for many years and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He was a 1944 graduate of Elkhart High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a master carpenter and woodworker and also enjoyed antique cars, archery and fishing.
