Kenneth Roland Hommerbocker Sr., 80, of Westminster, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at home. Born Nov. 9, 1930 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Howard Hommerbocker and Mabel Morrissette Hommerbocker and father of the late Kenneth “Hammer” Hommerbocker who died in 2009. Survived by his wife of 56 years Betty Mills Hommerbocker.
He was co-owner of Modern Ceramic Tile Co. in Westminster for 30 years with the late Bernard Depinto. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Westminster United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife he is survived by daughter Cathy Mills of Gettysburg, Pa., daughter-in-law Linda Hommerbocker of Taneytown, sister Doris Lerch of Sykesville, brothers Robert Hommerbocker Sr. of Virginia Beach, Va. and Edmund Hommerbocker of Baltimore; grandchildren Kerr Mills of Westminster, Kelly Mills of Gettysburg, Pa., Dawson and Emily Hommerbocker of Taneytown.
He was also predeceased by brothers Preston and Howard Hommerbocker and sister Grace Phelps.
