Kenneth Nils Ahlquist, 92, of Cromwell, husband of the late Margaret (Davie) McKnight Ahlquist, passed away on Thursday, August 14th at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and Hulda (Vinbladh) Ahlquist. Ken lived in Cromwell all of his life and was employed with Standard Knapp for 41 years. He was a WWII Army Veteran with the rank of 1st Lieutenant and a member of the American Legion Post 105. He enjoyed the outdoors, was a faithful Uconn Husky and Boston Red Sox fan and had just celebrated his 92nd birthday with the family that meant so much to him. Ken is survived by his brother, Arthur J. Ahlquist and his wife, Arlene of CA; a daughter-in-law, Margaret McKnight of CA; three grandchildren, George W. McKnight, IV and his wife, Lisa of Cromwell, Patrick D. McKnight and his wife, Dawn of LA and Donna L. McKnight and her fiance, Robby Ross of CA; six great grandchildren, Alexa, Jack, and Austin McKnight of Cromwell and James, Amalia, and Kathryn McKnight of LA; a niece, Susan Mullin and her husband, John of AZ; and two nephews, David Ahlquist of ME and William Ahlquist of CA. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son George W. McKnight, III. Ken’s family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Mark Coman for his loving care, compassion, and support given to Ken and his family and also to Middlesex Hospice Unit for their wonderful care.
