Kenneth N. Jones, 66 of Fairmount, Indiana died on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. Born Wednesday, May 14, 1947 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Emerson “Gordon” Jones and the late Julia C. Spearman Jones. He married Carolyn Fear on August 24, 1968 at Fairmount Friends Church.Kenny was a 1966 Fairmount High School Graduate and attended Ball State University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration.
He served in the Army from 1970-1973 and was stationed in Italy during the Vietnam War. Kenny retired from Bell Fibre in Marion in 1994 after 24 years of service. He worked his way from the production floor to become the Chief Industrial Engineer, as well as the Quality Manager. After his retirement from Bell, he worked for 10 years at Lowes. He was a member of Fairmount Friends Church where he sang in the choir and rang the church bell on Sundays. He was a former member of the Circle G Saddle Club and a past president and current member of the Fairmount Lions Club and the Fairmount American Legion.
Kenny was a member of Fairmount Masonic Lodge and Past Master, also a member ofScottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne, Mizpah Shrine Temple Ft. Wayne, Grant CountyShrine Club Scooter Patrol.He was a former football and basketball referee. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and family vacations. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carolyn, daughters, Christina (Kyle) Schmidt of Wausau, WI and Alisa (Tod) Ulrey, Mt. Airy, MD. 5 grandchildren; Emily and Eric Schmidt, Gabriel K., Cameron R. and MacKenzie R. Ulrey. Sister, Julia (Gene) Miller of Urbana, IN. Sisters-in-laws;Marilyn (Jake) Roth and Diana (Tom) Siler, both of Fairmount and several nieces and nephews.
