Kenneth Jay Klok passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the age of 74. He was born in Kalamazoo on December 28, 1944, the son of the late Jacob and Adriana (DeWolf) Klok. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a residential building contractor, who owned and operated Kenneth J. Klok Builders for 47 years. During this time Ken served two terms as president of the Home Builders Association of Western Michigan. He earned certifications of; GMB, CGP, CGB, CAPS. He was a Senior Life Director of the National Homebuilders Association, and Homebuilders Association of Michigan State Director.
Ken was recognized as Builder of the Year in 2004, 2006, and 2017. During his career he chaired or co-chaired the construction of 30 Fast Built Habitat for Humanity homes. Ken participated in numerous community outreach projects, most recently completing the Hospital Hospitality House and Tree of Life School. He was a member of Centerpoint Church, fondly remembered as Third Reformed Church. Ken was involved in all phases of the building of the church campus and enjoyed his Sunday’s working the lights and sound. Ken found time to enjoy life; sailing on Gull Lake, traveling, and spending time with his family were things he greatly enjoyed.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Kathy Klok; two sons, Steven (Pamala) Klok and Brian (Laurie) Klok; grandchildren, Brendan (Nicole) Klok, Jacob & Alaina Klok and Jason (Angeline) VanderZwaag; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard & John and sister, Delores Vander Meer.
