Kenneth J. Harrold, age 83 of Fairmount, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Fairmount on June 4, 1931 to the late Glen A. Harrold and Blanche Jones Harrold.

Kenny attended school in Liberty Township before graduating from Fairmount High School in 1950 and later attending courses through the Purdue Extension.On November 14, 1951, he married Bonnie Sue Wilson.

He was a farmer in Liberty Township for fifty years, retiring in 2000.Over the course of his career, he raised many cattle and hogs.Until his passing, Kenny had been a member of the Fairmount Friends Church the longest of any member, having joined in 1939. At Fairmount Friends, he was a trustee and an usher, he was also known for always sitting in his self-assigned seat on the pew in the rear of the church sanctuary.

In addition to his church, Kennys passions were his family and the outdoors. He is remembered by his grandchildren as never missing an event of theirs, whether it was a sporting event, school activity or a graduation, he was always there. Spending his life as a farmer, he always loved any opportunity to spend time outdoors.

Kenny enjoyed golfing, snow and water skiing and grilling outdoors, but most of all he loved spending countless hours working in his garden. He liked watching IU basketball, especially when Bobby Knight was the head coach. Although busy with his farming career, family and church, Kenny found time to be a volunteer fireman with the Fairmount Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community for ten years.

In addition to his wife Bonnie, he is survived by, daughter, Becky Justus, of New Albany; grandchildren, Courtney Gipson, of Redkey, Jessica Stuttle, of Greenfield, Joshua Gipson, of Columbia City, Kory (Elysia) Gipson, of Portland, Danielle Justus, of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Jeremy Justus, of Pittsburg, Penn.; great-grandchildren, Jayger, Thia, Linus, Charlie, and Luke; and sister, Alice Wade, of Marion.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy J. Gipson, who passed away in 2005; sisters, Ruth Painter and Martha J. Meyer; brothers, Hubert, Herbert, and Wayne Harrold.
