Kenneth Lester Farnsworth, 84, passed away on October 8, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. He was at his home in Lordsburg, New Mexico, surrounded by family.

Kenneth was born in Colonia Garcia, Chihuahua, Mexico, on August 12, 1927. He was the youngest of nine children born to Elmer David Farnsworth and Charity Mae O’Donnal. He attended school in Garcia, Mexico, and moved to Arizona, when he was a teenager, to help his father who operated a sawmill.

On January 1, 1950, Ken married Betty Joe Bingham, in Lordsburg, and about one year later moved back to Mexico, working for the U. S. Government inspecting cattle for foot and mouth disease. He became ill with yellow jaundice and they returned to the United States to live. They had two children and relocated to Lordsburg, in April 1957, where he worked as a turbine operator for the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 25 years.

Kenneth enjoyed life, country western music and dance. He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and although he traveled many places in the United States, he was always happiest when he returned home to the community he loved.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his five brothers, Elmer David “Dutch,” Jr., Ted, Ralph, Karl, and Wilford Farnsworth; three sisters, Janice “Jen” Beecroft, Marjorie Clayton, and Rosezeal Bingham; and grandson, Hugh Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his son, Blaine, and wife, Linda, of Lordsburg; and his daughter, Sue Day, of Maricopa, Arizona.

Survivors also include two grandchildren, Sarah Morgan and husband, Dayv, of Maricopa, and Ryan Blaine Farnsworth, of Canada; and four great-grandsons, Taylor, Braden, Cristian and Ashton Morgan, of Maricopa.
