Kenneth Haynes was born on August 13, 1936 and attended Neptune Township, NJ schools. He was a proud descendant of the Sand Hill Band (Monmouth County, NJ) of Cherokee-Delaware Indians, and he was the first Black barber at Fort Monmouth, NJ.

He spent many years working and living in New York.  Born in Neptune, Kenneth returned to the area upon his retirement, after the loss of his beloved mother, Margaret Carter. He was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, Asbury Park, NJ.

Mr.

Kenneth always had some project in progress, whether it was repairing cars, building model ships, collecting art pieces for refurbishing his home, or redecorating. He enjoyed photography, fishing, and bargain hunting at places such as the Ballard United Methodist Church Thrift Shop, Asbury Park.

He enjoyed his relationships with family members, life-long and new friends, and fellow residents at Asbury Tower. He loved to discuss current events and politics, and could always be depended upon to give sound advice.
