MANNES, Kenneth C. “Ken” of Portage. Passed away August 25, 2010 at home. He was born July 4, 1933 in East Holland, MI to Lucas and Susan Lubbers Mannes. Ken was united in marriage to his sweetheart on August 2, 1952 to Nina Streur, who survives.
They have 4 sons, Kim Mannes of Grand Haven, Greg Elaine Mannes of Kalamazoo, Steve Mannes of Portage and Jeff Annamae Mannes of Portage; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Mark Meldrum, Kari Aaron Simmons, Joshua, Courtney, Casey and Shelby; several great grandchildren; brothers, Lee Mannes, Larry Joanne Mannes and Paul Mannes; sister, Pearl Orin Harter; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Ken in death were; his mother; father; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Mannes.
Ken retired in 1998 from the printing industry at Merchant’s Publishing Company. An avid Christian, he was a member of Berean Baptist Church. He enjoyed golf, hunting and had a passion for smallmouth bass fishing. He also enjoyed playing games with his grandchildren.
