Keith L. Melady, 88, of Millers Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2005, in the nursing home. Mr. Melady was born on May 4, 1917, in Kankakee, Illinois to John Wesley and Hazel Mae (Dayton) Melady. Mr. Melady was raised in New Carlisle until he entered the military on November 14, 1939, where he joined the United States Air Corps. During World War II he fought at Hickam Field, (Pearl Harbor) and then in the South Pacific. He retired from the United States Air Force on September 1, 1971, having served in W.W.II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. Mr. Melady returned to New Carlisle in 2004, from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

On November 5, 1943, Keith L. Melady married Florence I. Masters, who preceded him in death on August 26, 2003. Surviving is his sister, Nora Gene (Harold) Calvert of Lafayette, Indiana; his brother, John D. Melady of Lafayette, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Sadie Melady of New Carlisle, Lucille Melady of South Bend, Indiana; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Graves of Three Oaks, Michigan; and a special nephew, Bill Flynn III of Clear Lake, California. A sister, Bertha Graves and brothers, Melvin and Duane Melady all preceded him in death.
