Bobbie Kaye Thompson Hanna, 59, of Irving, Texas, assumed her place in heaven on Sunday, February 26th after a brief, but inspiring battle with cancer. Kaye passed with her beloved family around her and the soft sounds of “Amazing Grace” sung by her beautiful nurse Natalie.
Kaye was born November 15, 1952, the youngest of 3 girls to William Irvin and Georgia Vaunita Thompson was raised in Dallas, Texas and attended Thomas Jefferson High School. Her marriage to the love of her life began on May 8, 1970 and spanned the remaining decades of her life. Most of her working years were spent in floor covering sales and she will be missed by numerous co-workers and customers. Kaye was preceded in her passing by her parents and loving sister Doris Walker. She is survived by the family she cherished so lovingly; her husband Walter Hanna, Sons Mark Jason Hanna and Michael Scott Hanna, Daughter in law Kristi Hanna and Grandchildren Aubrie Hanna, Brooks Hanna and newest little angel Ellis Hanna, son in law Joe Riggs, sister Shirley Davis and husband Jim Davis, brother in law Carl Walker and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and extended, adopted and assumed family and friends.
Kaye never met a stranger. She welcomed everyone with open arms, literally embracing almost everyone she met with a warm hug. Her legacy of love, family and strength will live on in the lives of her family and friends whom she dedicated her life most fervently to.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at UT Southwestern ICU, most especially nurse Natalie who ministered to the physical, mental and spiritual needs of not just Kaye, but the entire family who had gathered to say goodbye, with such compassion and heartfelt sympathy that they made Kaye’s transition from this life to her spiritual one a peaceful and loving experience.
Kaye’s spirit touched us all.
