Kay Frances Sherrill Houston, 69, of Statesville, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Houston was born November 5, 1940, in Iredell County, daughter of Myrtle Byers Sherrill of Statesville and the late Harold Hunter Sherrill. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Henry Sherrill.
She worked for Iredell-Statesville Schools for 29 years as a teacher’s assistant at Monticello, Celeste Henkel, N.B. Mills and A. D. Rutherford. She loved to read and treasured her children, grandchildren and her great granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Edward Houston, Sr. of Statesville; a son, Richard Edward Houston, Jr. of Danielsville, GA; a daughter, Angela Houston (Bryan) Hoover of Statesville; a sister, Marie Sherrill (Bill) Holman of Statesville; a sister-in-law, Nancy Sherrill of Statesville; three grandchildren, Ashley and Patrick Hoover and Sydney Houston; and one great grandchild, Rylee Lynch.
