Whether you called her Mama, Aunt Kate, or Granny, she was always ready for a family get together. She loved to sit on her porch and visit with anyone who stopped by. She worked in the Carriere School Cafeteria until she retired 20+ years ago. She made the BEST yeast rolls ever!She was a member of Lee’s Chapel #1 Baptist Church in Millcreek and attended Central Baptist Church with her family in recent years. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved was preceded in death by her parents, James Elliott McCormick and Margaret Leona Wells McCormick; her husband, Charles “Ed” Edward Simmons, Sr.; her four sons, Billy Ray (Marguerite B. Harris) Simmons, James Henry “Buddy” Simmons, Robert Wayne Simmons, and Charles Edward Simmons Jr.; her granddaughter Cindi Jean Carter, step-grandson Mark Harris, grandson-in-law Robert Bond, and great-grandson Caleb Simmons; her brothers James C. “Buddy”, Thomas J. “TJ”, Jessie B “Jess”, John Henry, William W. “Bill”, and Joseph E “Joe” McCormick; her sisters Mayde Loveless, Georgia Spiers, and Francis Lott. Left to cherish her memory are are her daughter Patricia Gail Simmons Carter; her daughter-in-law Martha Elaine Pitre Simmons; her grandchildren Roxanne Simmons (Huey) Dorr, Robert Carter, Troy (Rhonda Wilson) Simmons, Rhonda Simmons (Nathan) Rigaud, Clint (Jennifer Carter) Simmons, Kathryn Danielle Simmons Bond, Janice Carter Kirkland, Gracie Carter, Allen Carter, Kendall (Tori Mitchell) Simmons, Kerry (Stacy Fasulla) Simmons, Keenan (Erica Candies) Simmons, Deborah Simmons (Michael) Lee, and Kyria Simmons (Joshua Askew); her step-grandchildren Allen Harris and Crystal Harris Mcmurrin; 22 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
