MORRISVILLE Mrs. Katie Burgess Barber, 88, of Morrisville, died on Friday, December 29, . Barber was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Newton Henry Burgess and Elsie Watkins Burgess. She retired after 15 years from Square D in Knightdale. Mrs. Barber was a lifelong member of Sorrell’s Grove Baptist Church. She loved playing cards, bingo and square dancing and was a state champion singer in the 1940’s. She was a devoted mother and Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Barber; sons, Joe Moe Barber and Todd Anthony Barber and 7 brothers and is survived by two sons, William Terry Barber (Debbie), of Virginia and Tony Avis Barber, of Morrisville; daughter, Pansy Lee Brannan (David), of Garner; sisters, Elsie Lee Lynam (Melvin), of Georgia and Rosa Fuqua (Bill), of Roxboro; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.m. at Sorrell’s Grove Baptist Church in Morrisville, NC.
