Kathryn (Kay) Hendricks Moon

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Kay Moon, passed away surrounded by her children on August 31, 2016. She was born on December 12, 1934 to Samuel Allen Sr. and Georgia Marteal Wight Hendricks in Malad, Idaho. She graduated from Malad High School.

She married DeVar Camp Moon on September 8, 1951 in Malad, Idaho, but later divorced. She is survived by her four children; Lois Kay (Thomas E.) Benoit of Renfrew, PA, Kathy Louise Reeve of Salt Lake City, UT, William Allen Moon of Salt Lake City, UT, and Karen Arlene Farr of Clearfield, UT. She has 11 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Samuel Allen (Sharon) Hendricks, Jr., but preceded in death by her parents and two sisters; Betty Jane Crowther and Carol Dawn Willie.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many callings, but her favorite was with music. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and volunteered at the YCC Women’s Shelter for many years. Kay retired from the IRS as Head of Collections after more than 30 years. After retirement, she went to work at the Old Grist Mill, which was her favorite job. Her family was most important in her life.
