Kathryn Matheny Houseworth was born to Charles Butler (C.B.) & Margaret Almquist Matheny on May 17, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her parents have preceded her in death. Kathy put her trust in Jesus Christ at the age of two. She loved her Lord and wanted others to know of his amazing love as well. Her family relocated to Georgia when she was eight. After graduating from Grady High School in 1963, she attended Georgia State University where she found a great joy in being a part of the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. In 1992, Kathy moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where she owned and operated Logos Christian Bookstore. This became a great love and ministry for her. Lawndale Baptist Church became a large part of her life as she immersed herself in its programs. During this time, she made friendships that she would cherish for her lifetime.
On February 14, 2015, Kathy married the love of her life, Edsel Houseworth, Sr. They were blessed with a loving relationship and found great joy in their years together. Kathy was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan and the Hope Sunday School Class. Kathy claimed her life eternal on January 22, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Edsel Houseworth and his sons and their wives, Edsel & Meredith; Eric and Amy. She loved Edsel’s grandchildren as her own, Nathaniel, Addison, Sawyer, Levi, Madelyn.
