Kathryn Montgomery Chaney, 84, of Bovina, MS, passed away January 20, 2016, at Promise Hospital. She was a longtime resident of Warren County and member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, where she was Sunday school teacher and leader of the Bea Jones Bible Study group. For many years Kathryn was a member and past president of the Vicksburg Business and Professional Women and was chosen the State Woman of Achievement in 1970. She received the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and the Special Award from the Mississippi River Commission upon her retirement. Kathryn served as President of the Beta Chapter of Pi Alpha Kappa Sorority, Vice President of the Vicksburg Lions Club, District Chairman of the Womens’ Committee of the Mississippi Farm Bureau, and President of the Association of Retired Federal Employees. She attended Mississippi College for Women.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father: Audrey T. Logue and F.M. Logue, Sr.; two sisters, Helen L. Martin and Nan L. Peterson, and one brother, F.M. “Sonny” Logue, Jr. Kathryn is survived by her husband, Mark J. Chaney, four sons: Judge M. James (Monnie) Chaney, Jr., of Vicksburg, David L. (Kay) Chaney, Sr., of Vicksburg, Dr. Martin V. (Teresa) Chaney of Vicksburg, and Carl J. (Jinx) Chaney of New Orleans, LA; two brothers, Albert Logue of Cleveland, TX, and Henry A. Logue of Madison, MS, one foster daughter, Bridget Foley of Santa Rosa, FL, one sister, Joy Davis of Start, LA, and thirteen grandchildren: Mark James Chaney, III, Sarah Kathryn Chaney, David (Haley) Chaney, Jr., Ashley Chaney (Sam) Berryhill, Jonathan Chaney, Lacey Chaney (Ryan) Lee, Logan Chaney (Evan) Garner, Liza Kate Chaney (Blake) Tidwell, Morgan Chaney (Ryan) Geary, Brent Chaney, Maxcy Chaney, Katelyn Foley, and Elizabeth Foley, and four great grandchildren.
