Kathryn went home to be with the Lord at 7:00 am Wednesday April 11, 2012 at the Green Hills Inn in West Liberty after a brief illness with cancer. She was born on August 12, 1914 in Mt. Victory to Charles and Ona (Hatcher) Kelsey.

On April 04, 1936 she married Wilbur Samuel Ulrich and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1977. Kathryn later married Gaylord W. Krout on April 11, 1990 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 1995.

Surviving are four daughters Monica (Bill) Thompson of Powell, Melba (John) Breidenbach of Bellefontaine, Pamela (Dick) McQuown of Bellefontaine, and Linda (Dean) Terrill of Ridgeway, one son Edward (Carolyn) Ulrich of Bucyrus, fourteen grandchildren John (Linda) Breidenbach of Greensburg, IN, Lorrie (Michael) Pheifer of Ostrander, Scott (Gail) Thompson of Mt. Vernon, Susan (Andy) Neill of Ashley, Greg (Christie) Thompson of Milford Center, Dr. Doug (Paula) Thompson of Dublin, Todd (Jennifer) McQuown of Forest City, Iowa, Shannon Hodge of Bellefontaine, Dr. Michael (Julia) Terrill of Pinetop, AZ, Jeff (Faye) Terrill of Rushsylvania, Brad (Heidi) Terrill of Ridgeway, Deanna (Ben) Monnin of Sidney, Andrea (Chris) Schimpf of Bloomville, Desra (Keith) Dabney of Findlay, and several great and great great grandchildren. In addition, Kathryn has four stepchildren, Doris Willson of Mt. Blanchard, Virginia (Dale) Motter of Mt. Blanchard, Judy (Russell) Chester of Carey, and Jerry (Karen) Krout of McComb, as well many step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister in law Beatrice Young of Ridgeway, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Merle Kelsey, and sisters Frances McCullough and Ethlyn May Kelsey.

Kathryn graduated from Mt. Victory High School in 1932, and received her teaching degree from Bowling Green State University in 1934. She taught elementary classes in the Ridgeway/Ridgemont School District for seventeen years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, Ohio Retired Teachers’ Association, and the Hardin County Retired Teachers’ Association. Kathryn was a member of the Ridgeway United Methodist Church and frequently attended the West Liberty United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the United Methodist Women in Ridgeway and Florida.

Residing at Green Hills Inn for the past seven years, Kathryn was actively involved in their many activities. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her violin ministry along with her close friend and pianist, Gene Farley.
