Kathryn D’Elena Guinness died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly at the age of 91.
Kathryn was born in Burlington, NJ on Aug. 16, 1921, one of seventeen children born to Guerino and Catherine D’Elena.
Kathryn worked to the ripe old age of 84 at the Golden Dawn Diner on Rt. 130 in Edgewater Park, where she was affectionately known as Ma-Ma Kay. She was loved and respected for her kindness and ready smile; she had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed cutting grass and planting flowers for friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all the people whose lives she touched. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her son Leonard N Smith, her grandson Leonard N. Smith, Jr., and her husband John D. Guinness.
She is survived by her loving granddaughter Sherri Evers Smith, her great-grandson James F. Evers, Jr., sister Viola Lucas Terry of Florida, sister-in-law Maria D’Elena and daughter-in-law and caregiver Edith Sozio-Smith as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
