Kathryn Ruth Griffith, age 78, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was a woman of deep faith who had immense love for her family. Kathy was born in Huntington, West Virginia on October 11, 1944 to Paul and Mary (Bowman) Nickell. She was the oldest of ten children. Referred to by her siblings often as “Kate” – she was their first babysitter, the one who introduced them to her passions of crafting and the outdoors, and she was deeply adored by them as the nurturing older sister that she was.

Kathy was married to Dannie Griffith for many years. They raised their five children together. Her family brought her great pride and joy. She balanced motherhood with working in sales and floral, where she thrived in roles that allowed her to connect with others and bring beauty into their lives.

She loved talking with people and always had an interesting tale to share. Her ability to find the good in any situation was remarkable, and she encouraged others to do the same. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and her strength inspired all who knew her.

Her devotion to God was unwavering, and she spent much of her life actively involved in her church community. She led hymns with a voice that lifted hearts and spirits, and her passion for the Bible was contagious. She touched the lives of many people, both in her community and beyond.

Kathy was an accomplished crafter, skilled in the arts of crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Her handmade creations that she gifted to her loved ones served as a testament to her creativity and skill.

Her love for baking, cooking, and making cookie plates at Christmas time was driven by her desire to bring joy to others. Even when she didn’t have much, Kathy always gave generously – and her heart was always full of love.
