Kay, as she was known, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at her home. Kay was born on July 17, 1926 in Ross County, Ohio, to Glen and Alice Nutter.

She spent her first few years in Ohio, until the family moved east in 1936, for her father’s work. They settled in Maryland, where she graduated from Brunswick, Maryland High School. Kay then attended business school in Hagerstown, Maryland and went to work for the Pathfinder Publishing Company in Washington, D. C.

She met her future husband, David, when she began working for the Washington Institute of Technology in College Park, Maryland. They were married in 1946 and lived in Hyattsville, Maryland until 1956, when David accepted employment with Convair in the missile program at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Kay began a local radio program on WKKO, entitled “Beachcombing”. She later became the City Clerk and Treasurer for the City of Cocoa Beach. She worked for the city for over seventeen years, serving for City Manager for over two years.

Taking a year off, she then began working for the Brevard County Government, finally retiring in 1988.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Helen (Jerry) Kirkpatrick and their three children and grandchildren, and by a loving sister-in-law, Laura Bueche and her three children and grandchildren, and devoted niece, Kathy and nephew, Robert Wright.
