KATHLEEN MARY MCGUINESS
Kathleen McGuiness, 93, of Highland Beach, FL, matriarch of our family passed away on Saturday 2nd of April 2022.
Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador the first daughter of George Capwell and Margaret Kane of a family which was to be conformed by five children. Her early education was at the German School of Guayaquil, but at the outbreak of World War Two she was sent to the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Elmhurst a boarding school in Providence RI. Thereafter she attended Mount St. Vincent College in New York City to return to Panama City, Panama as assistant to the US Ambassador, where she met her husband of 60 years James Matthew McGuiness (d. 2011) and married at the Iglesia de Cristo Rey. The marriage had four children: Mark, Tracey, Moira (d. 2008) and Sean. Mark was born in Panama City and the younger three were born in Torreon, Mexico before the McGuiness family moved back to Guayaquil, Ecuador where the McGuiness family set their roots, alongside their maternal grandfather George Capwell. Kathleen was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother always sharing her home with family and friends. This in addition to running a tourism business which took her exploring sights through the world.
