Kathleen Ayala, 65, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 4:50 pm. Kathleen was born on February 13, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Callhan) Rusick. She married the love of her life, Alfred on May 20, 1970 in Chicago; he survives.
Also surviving are her children; son, Freddy (Inba) Ayala, Galesburg; daughters, Kim (Jeremy) Cree, Galesburg, Gina (Dan) Smallwood, Colorado, Samantha Zarco, Galesburg, Sabrina Aguirre, Galesburg, and Jackie Ayala, Galesburg; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Kathleen was a 1967 graduate of St. Anne’s High School in Chicago where she participated in volleyball and horseshoes. She retired from KCCDD in 2015 where she spent her years as a classroom trainer. She loved spending time with her family, and had an enormous heart for animals, especially cats. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg.
