Norfolk: Katherine Menser Whalen, 83, of Shepherd Road, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009. She was the wife of the late Malachi J. Whalen, Jr. who died in 1987. Born in Hartford, February 13, 1926, she was a daughter of the late William N. and Flora (Raymond) Menser. Mrs Whalen owned and operated Whalen’s Antiques in Norfolk for 16 years before retiring to Pinellas Park, FL. In 2001, she returned home to Norfolk. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Whalen and Kathleen Whalen both of Norfolk; two sons, Malachi Whalen of Winsted and William Whalen of Norfolk; a sister, Flora Ann Maloney of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and three grandchildren.
