Katherine Greene Hinson, 87, of Stanfield, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at her residence in Autumn Care of Marshville, NC.
Mrs. Hinson was born October 21, 1935, in Meat Camp, NC, and was the daughter of the late Verne Greene, and late Nellie Mae Crawford Greene.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel, Richard, and Bennie Greene.
Katherine was raised in Watauga County primarily in Meat Camp and Boone NC. Katherine graduated from Appalachian High School in 1952. She married David Hinson in 1953 and they enjoyed 51 years together before he passed in 2004.
They raised 3 children together and had 4 granddaughters and 9 great-grandchildren.
Katherine was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed cross-stitching. She created numerous beautiful pieces of art that she gifted to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed seek-and-find searches and reading.
Katherine and David were members of Newell Baptist Church and made many lifetime friendships with fellow church members. In her later years, she enjoyed the fellowship of the Berea Baptist Church family.
Survivors include daughter, Kathy (Robert) Reynolds of Stanfield, NC; daughter, Kelly A (Bryan) Tobias of Woodland, MI; son, Wayne Hinson of Harmony, NC; and brother, Dennis (Edna) Greene of Shelby, NC.
