Katherine Campo

September 11, 1942 – February 4, 2021

Katherine Eichman Campo a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama since 1993, went peacefully home to the Lord on February 4th with her daughters by her side.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Anthony Campo, Jr., her parents, Frank and Dorothy Eichman; sister-in-law, Barbara Eichman; and her nephew, Michael Littler.

She is lovingly remembered by daughters, Victoria Campo Byrd (Garnett) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Katherine Campo Royster of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Garnett Williamson Byrd II, Eleanor Katherine Byrd and Caroline Campo Byrd; brother, Frank Eichman; sister in law, Margaret Campo Littler; nephew, Don Eichman (Charlene); nieces, Doree Eichman and Christina Littler; and several other relatives.

Kathy grew up in Havertown, PA where she attended Mater Misericordiae Academy, Merion, PA and went on to graduate from Drexel University in 1962 with a Associates Degree in Secretarial Studies.

Married in 1966, Kathy and John moved many times during their married life with John’s busy career in the steel industry and finally settled in Tuscaloosa. Active members of North River Yacht Club and an avid golfer, Kathy enjoyed participating in the Women’s Golf Association for many years.

Kathy’s three grandchildren were a source of great joy to her. “Oma” (and “Nonno”) never missed a birthday or other special event such as ballet recitals, First Holy Communions and sporting events. She was extremely proud of their academic and athletic achievements. She loved spending time with them in Florida and made many beautiful memories with family trips to Italy, Perdido Key, Sea Island and the Jersey Shore.Kathy’s role as “mother and wife” was her most treasured one and her constant love, support and care will be very deeply missed by her family.
